Carter & Conner -- start their new lives (Video)

On the morning of May 7, 2015, caregivers and family members readied conjoined twins Carter and Conner Mirabal for the marathon surgery that would separate them for the first time since they were born on December 12, 2014. During the 12-hour surgery, the boys’ fused livers and bile ducts were successfully separated by skilled pediatric surgeons, assisted by a surgical team of more than a dozen members. The news that the boys were finally separated was met by the family with tears of joy and lots of clapping. The two will now spend time in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, closely monitored by pediatric critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and many others during what is likely to be a sustained recovery.
