Meet the Administration 

Administrator
Photo of Larry Freeman Larry Freeman has been the Administrator of Wolfson Children's Hospital since 1976. He earned his bachelor of science degree in business from Florida State University in Tallahassee and a masters in public health from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He served for six years in a combat hospital unit of the U.S. Army Reserves.

A native of Jacksonville, Freeman is a member of the Southside Rotary Club and has been involved in a number of local organizations, including the YMCA, United Way of Northeast Florida, and the March of Dimes. He also is active in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), American College of Healthcare Executives, American Hospital Association and First Coast Healthcare Executives.

Vice President, Patient Care Services
Photo of Carolyn Johnson Carolyn Johnson, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, has served as Vice President of Patient Care Services for Wolfson Children's Hospital since 1993. Previously, she was Director of Nursing for Wolfson for 14 years. She earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Florida, along with her master's degree in nursing.

Born in Jacksonville, Mrs. Johnson is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, along with the Florida chapter and Northeast Florida chapter. She has served on the Board of Ronald McDonald House in Jacksonville, and is a current member of the Board of the Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson, as well as Sigma Theta Tau. She has been a member of NACHRI for 25 years.

Mrs. Johnson has received a number of awards during her nursing and administrative career, including the 2004 Women in Health Award, the 2004 EVE Award in the Employment category, and one of the Great 100 in the Florida Nursing Association in 2000. She was in the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 1998.

Chief Medical Officer
Jerry A. Bridgham, MD Jerry A. Bridgham, MD, has served as Chief Medical Officer for Wolfson Children's Hospital since November 2006. Prior to that, he served as interim Chief Medical Officer for Wolfson.

Dr. Bridgham has served on the medical staff of Wolfson Children's Hospital for 16 years and on the medical staff of Baptist Medical Center South since its opening in 2005. He has been a partner in Mandarin Pediatric Associates since 1990.

Dr. Bridgham has long been a leader at Wolfson Children's Hospital, serving as Chief of the Section of General Pediatrics from 1997-1998, Chief of Staff-Elect from 2001- 2002, and Chief of Staff from 2003-2004. He currently serves on Wolfson's Perinatal Advisory Board, which he chaired from 1999-2000.

Dr. Bridgham received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency in pediatrics at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia. He is board-certified in pediatrics and is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Bridgham served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Duty stations included Jacksonville, Portsmouth, Virginia, and Keflavik, Iceland. He received the Navy Achievement Medal during his active duty service from 1983 to 1990.
