Remembrance Day (formerly Walk to Remember) to hold event for 25th year to help families memorialize babies who have passed away

Previously known as Walk to Remember, Remembrance Day will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015, for families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy or newborn death. Organizers chose last year to make the event a gathering on the lawn by the river instead of a walk so participants would have more time to visit, decorate banners and butterfly pins with their baby’s name, and participate in a butterfly release. Beginning with the 2015 event, the name has been changed to reflect that.

Remembrance Day will take place on the north lawn of the Aetna Building at 841 Prudential Drive, across the street from Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, beginning at 2 pm. There is no registration fee, but a donation of $5 is requested for the butterflies, remembrance banners and pins. To register and reserve a butterfly and pin, contact Chaplain Linda Rosengren, Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital at 202.2240 or email her at The number of butterflies to release is limited. This event is jointly sponsored by Baptist Health, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Healthcare and Memorial Hospital.
