South Georgia-area kids now have access to specialist in childhood cancer and blood disorders.
Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital pediatric hematologist/ oncologist Eric Sandler, M.D., is now seeing patients once a month at Wolfson Children’s at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Dr. Sandler will be providing:
• Office consultations
• Follow-up appointments for childhood cancer patients and those with blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia
• Long-term follow-up care (excluding chemotherapy and imaging scans)
“It is my hope that this will provide greater convenience to patients and families by reducing the burden of having to travel to Jacksonville for appointments,” said Dr. Sandler. “It also will help referring physicians to obtain local consultation on these often complex patients.”
Dr. Sandler is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, and provides inpatient care at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California Medical School in San Francisco, and his pediatric hematology/ oncology fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. Dr. Sandler was named one of the Best Doctors in America in 2011 and 2014, and received the American Cancer Society’s Lane Adams Quality of Life Award in 2012.
