Walk-in slots and appointments available; all scans read by pediatric radiologists with Nemours Children’s Specialty Care
Children can now have X-rays, CT scans and ultrasounds performed on an outpatient basis at the Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center at Town Center, located at 4085 Town Center Parkway. The Town Center location joins Baptist Clay Medical Campus in Fleming Island, and Baptist North Medical Campus on Dunn Ave. at I-295 to make pediatric imaging testing more accessible to families.
“Our freestanding Emergency Center brings high-quality pediatric care closer to the patients in their own communities, and now we are broadening our services to include outpatient pediatric imaging,” said Andrew Strange, RN, BSN, SCRN, nurse manager of the Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center at Town Center.
As is the case at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, all pediatric X-rays, CT scans and other imaging tests performed at the three locations are reviewed and interpreted by board-certified pediatric radiologists with Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Jacksonville, 24/7.
“We are proud to offer state-of-the-art pediatric and adolescent outpatient imaging services at all three of our Wolfson Children’s Emergency Center locations,” said Debbie Merinbaum, MD, chair of the Department of Pediatric Imaging at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, and chief of Radiology for Wolfson Children’s Hospital. “The exams are specifically tailored to minimize radiation exposure and maximize image quality. Rest assured that this level of subspecialized service is unmatched in the community.”
At Baptist Clay, patients can undergo MRI, CT, ultrasounds and X-ray tests; at Baptist North and the Emergency Center at Town Center, experienced radiologic technologists trained at Wolfson Children’s Hospital perform CTs, ultrasounds and X-rays. At all three sites, walk-ins are taken for routine X-rays (physician orders are required); other imaging tests require an appointment.
“Baptist Health continues to provide multiple alternatives for convenient pediatric outpatient testing, and we’ve equipped the Town Center location with the latest technology and diagnostic equipment found in our main hospitals,” said Kim Hurse, MBA-C, CRA, BSRT(R), director of Imaging Services for Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s. “We’re proud of this new center and the additional services it provides to our community.”
The Baptist Health/Wolfson Children’s Hospital freestanding emergency centers in the Jacksonville area offer acute medical care to adults and children. The emergency centers house 8 beds for each, which are separated with their own waiting rooms and décor. Pediatric patients are seen by nurses who specialize in pediatric medicine, and experienced emergency and pediatric physicians. In addition to the pediatric radiology services provided by Nemours, the ERs have access to pediatric pharmacists at Wolfson Children’s, who consult on and manage every prescribed medication.
At the Baptist/Wolfson Emergency Center at Town Center, parents and physician offices can schedule pediatric imaging tests by calling 904.202.2222, and walk-ins for routine X-rays are welcome Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am and 4 pm.
