Eating Disorders
This program is the only one of its kind in Florida and offers a supportive and challenging environment that provides the necessary structure for your child recovering from an eating disorder, along with the flexibility required to address the needs of a developing adolescent. Individualized treatment, activities and therapies foster independence geared toward long-term health. Our treatment combines psychotherapy and nutritional counseling, to help individuals create a balanced, healthy lifestyle both psychologically and nutritionally. Our team will collaborate with your primary care physician and/or psychiatrist regarding medical or psychiatric concerns. There are psychiatrists in our practice if you do not have a psychiatrist and need one. Weigh to Health Weigh to Health is a summer day program and community outreach offered by Wolfson Children's Hospital's Behavioral Health Department. One program is offered for children, ages eight to 11, and another for ages 12-14. Each morning, group activities include nutrition and healthy food choices, emotional eating and appetite awareness, self-esteem, and coping skills. After lunch, which is based on meal plans that are designed for each camper, children are transported to afternoon activities. The Riverside Yates Family YMCA provides participants with such choices as yoga, basketball, volleyball or fitness equipment. Other options have included Tae Kwon Do.
