Performing rehabilitation activities in an aquatic environment has proven to help patients obtain strength and skills that may be difficult to achieve on land. We are able to utilize the principles of buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and water viscosity to develop balance, strength, endurance, and postural control. Research also shows that improvements are possible in pain reduction, edema, coordination, sensory integration, motor planning and psychosocial skills.
