Community Asthma Partnership
Asthma is the number-one reason children miss school, and the leading cause of hospitalization for children in Northeast Florida. It is estimated that more than 60,000 people with asthma live in the greater Jacksonville area, and many of them are children whose families are unaware they have the disease. To combat the devastating and sometimes life-threatening effects of asthma, the Community Asthma Partnership was established in 1992 as a grassroots coalition of volunteers from the private and public sectors
committed to improving asthma awareness, education, access and the
standard of care in the community. The program is now called Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson and is located
on the campus of Wolfson Children's Hospital.
This cooperative effort, comprised of hospitals, the Duval County Health Department, and pediatric and adult pulmonologists
and allergists across the region, is aimed at enhancing asthma awareness, education and quality of care, while increasing access to
asthma care, regardless of insurance status.

The Jack Del Rio Foundation has chosen the Community Asthma Partnership at Wolfson as one of its 2008 grant recipients. The Foundation is devoted to motivating our community to help meet the needs of underserved youth in the Jacksonville area by energizing, educating and enriching their lives.
