Tear Catchers

For more than 3,000 years, small, decorative jars have been used to capture the tears of those mourning the death of someone deeply loved. Recognizing that no one or no thing can stop the flow of tears of a grieving parent, the Tear Catchers program offers two support groups.

The first group is offered for parents who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death. The second is for parents who have lost an older child. Both groups include parent-to-parent support facilitated by professional chaplains, social workers and other trained healthcare professionals.

The infant loss support group meets on the first and third Mondays of each month from 7-8:30 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4171 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, 32207 (approximately 2 miles south of San Marco Square). The pediatric loss group meets on the first Thursday of each month from 7 -8:30 PM at the First Christian Church on San Jose Boulevard in Mandarin. During the months of November and December, meeting dates and times may vary. Please call 904.202.2240 to verify the date and time.

Parents are automatically placed on the mailing list for one year to receive a reminder for support groups and special events. If your loss occurred at another facility and you would like to be placed on the mailing list, please contact the Spiritual Care office 904.202.2240 or Iinda.rosengren@bmcjax.com.
