We view parents/legal guardians as as a vital part of our health care team, and we encourage you to be with your child as much as you would like. Parents are welcome to identify an adult parent substitute (often a grandparent or another relative) to be with your child, whenever you are unable to be here.
Wolfson Children's Hospital general and intensive care patient rooms have overnight accommodations for one parent. Parents often find it works best for one parent to stay at a time, so the other can go home and rest. However, if both parents want to stay, we will accommodate your wishes, unless two people sleeping in the room prevents safe access to your child.
There are no sleeping accommodations for parents in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). However, parents are welcome to stay at their child's bedside overnight in the NICU.
Siblings are welcome at any time, but generally do not stay overnight. Adult supervision is required for all siblings while they are at the hospital. Children who are ill, sick with a cold or the flu, or have had vomiting or diarrhea in the previous 24 hours should not be brought to the hospital since they may pass infection to other children who are hospitalized. If siblings have been exposed to any infectious disease, such as chicken pox, measles, or whooping cough/pertussis during the three weeks before they visit the hospital, please call the inpatient unit to determine the appropriateness of them coming to the hospital.
Visiting hours are 10 am-8 pm. All guests are encouraged to contact the parent/legal guardian for their approval prior to visiting a child in the hospital. Visitors to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit must be pre-approved by a parent. If special accommodations are needed for visiting at other times, individual arrangements can be made with the patient's nurse and with a parent's approval.
